Forman Ignite 24
Day 1 started with a motivating opening speech by Ms. Sabah Iqbal, followed by a thrilling opening note from Hamza Ahmad, President GDSC and the Event Head for Forman Ignite. The Capstone Project Gallery brought students on a collective platform to display their projects and captivated tech enthusiasts’ minds and hearts in S-Octa. The event officially started off with an enlightening workshop on robotics, followed by an event briefing to prepare the participants for the upcoming competitions.
Soon, it was followed by Web Development in which the task was to clone a website and a Machine Learning contest in which a Cirrhosis Survival Prediction Dataset was provided to participants and challenged them to create the best performing artificially intelligent model. The tougher the competition, the higher the stakes. Both the segments were evaluated by esteemed faculty members from the Department of Computer Science; Ms. Umber Nisar and Dr. Nazim Ashraf respectively.
In between the breaks, there was an enlightening session by Sir Zeeshan on UI/UX and design thinking. The competitions resumed with a valorant segment, followed by a nerve-wracking buzzer round and an enticing AR art gallery where participants experimented with custom filters designed by our development team by scanning barcodes printed on standees. Overall, the first day of Forman Ignite was successful in creating an impact and setting the tone for the remainder of the event.
Day 2 The second day of Ignite was packed with exciting activities. The Robotics Competition kicked off the day, with teams displaying impressive designs and engineering skills. Concurrently, the Capstone Project Gallery continued, allowing visitors to engage with students on innovative tech projects. The UI/UX briefing provided insights into the latest design trends and outlined the requirements for the contest, while the Scavenger Hunt added a fun, collaborative element to the event. Specifically, our development team created an Android application from scratch that participants used to scan classroom numbers and generate hints for the next clue. This scavenger hunt was the first of its kind at Forman
In the afternoon, attendees attended two concurrent Speaker Sessions with Usman Ahmed and Mustafa Jamal, covering a range of tech topics and industry insights like Cloud Computing and DevOps alongside emerging trends in tech like Web3. Usman Ahmed, from 10 Pearls—a proud sponsor of Forman Ignite—delivered an engaging talk. The Programming Competition’s first round tested participants’ coding skills in a challenging and competitive environment. The VRcade opened, featuring games like Tekken and Fifa that captivated many attendees. The AR Gallery and VR Experience continued to provide hands-on exposure to cutting-edge technologies. The day concluded with a UI/UX Presentation, where designers highlighted their projects and shared their design processes. The day ended with a mesmerizing musical night which captivated our audience. Overall, Day 2 of Ignite was a success, filled with learning, innovation, and engagement, ensuring something for everyone and maintaining much enthusiasm throughout.
Day 3 concluded the event with enthusiasm and the utmost excitement. Concluding the last rounds of many of the events, followed by the announcement of the winners, it was perhaps the most awaited day of the entire event. The last round of the Valorant Competition and the Buzzer round had everyone on the edge of their seats. The best of 3 battles of the final round of the Valorant Competition was something everyone is bound to remember. One of the most insightful events at Forman Ignite was the ‘Women in Tech’ panel talk. Moderated by Miss Isra Ammani, the panel talk hosted some exceptionally inspiring and talented women including Ayesha Zaman, Annum Sadiq, Aleena Nadeem, and Sadaf Rehman. These exceptionally accomplished women inspired the audience with their remarkable achievements and talents, particularly resonating with the women in attendance. The programming competition revealed the skills and talents of all participants but only one was exceptional enough to be crowned the winner. This was followed by the Machine Learning presentations, which demonstrated the presentation skills of all participants and offered something for all attendees to learn. The closing ceremony was a fitting end to an event filled with inspiration, learning, and excitement. Awards and accolades were distributed to the deserving winners, recognizing their hard work and exceptional performance. The formal dinner provided a perfect opportunity for everyone to relax and reflect on the highlights of the past three days. The bonds formed and the knowledge gained during Forman Ignite will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on all who attended, making it an event to remember.
