Teachers’ Day “For all those who light the way”

Organizing Society: Forman Education Society

The Forman Education Society (FES), on October 3rd 2024 organized a Teacher’s Day celebration under the theme “For all those who light the way”. This thoughtful event aimed to honor the dedication, passion, and commitment of the esteemed teachers and educators at FCCU.

Earlier in the morning at 8AM, FES society members set up two welcome desks for teachers in front of the main academic buildings, E-block and S-block where they distributed beautifully crafted cardboard trophies and chocolates to teachers as tokens of appreciation. The official celebration was attended by more than 200 students, faculty, staff, and distinguished guests, including the Provincial Minister of the Government of Punjab for Minority Affairs, Sardar Rameesh Singh Arora and the Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education in Punjab, Ajmal Khan Chandiya. The ceremony began with a warm welcome by FES hosts, highlighting teachers’ impact on students’ lives and FCCU’s motto. It was followed by the recitation of the Holy Quran, the Holy Bible and the Holy Guru Granth Sahib.

After recitation of the Holy Books, Sir Kamil Shamsad, Head of Student Affairs Office, delivered a welcome address acknowledging the significant role of teachers as guiding lights. Society advisor, Miss Khadija Burhan, explored the multifaceted nature of teaching, emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between motivation and accountability as teachers.

Furthermore, The FES President, Simon Akhtar, delivered a compelling address that underscored the vital role of teachers in maintaining a harmonious society. He emphasized their unique contributions and the profound impact they have on students’ lives.It was followed by a heartwarming video showcasing the genuine sentiments and gratitude of students towards their teachers. The video highlighted the positive influence teachers have had on students’ lives, regardless of their academic fields or personal beliefs.

Mr. Arora paid a great tribute to Teachers as nation builders and spotlighted the vital role they play in every society. The most amusing part of the ceremony was the musical performance by FES members in collaboration with Forman Music and Dance Society FCCU, offering a heartfelt tribute to the teachers. Their soulful voices and thoughtful lyrics beautifully captured the essence of the teacher-student bond.Dr. Rehan Siddiqi, a long-serving faculty member of FCCU, entertained the audience with his intellectual and witty remarks. Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Mr. Douglas Trimble, and Dr. Elizabeth, Head of Student Development at FCCU, recognized the faculty as the pillars of the university.

The meticulous ceremony of Teacher’s Day celebration was covered by news channels such as CT-42 and LahoreRang News. The event concluded with refreshments, providing an opportunity for networking and celebration. The event was a resounding success for the whole team of Forman Education Society and Student Affairs Office, and Students Activities Office FCCU, as they look forward to staying firm on their commitment to taking impactful initiatives for the cause of education.
