Meet the Diplomats! An Exclusive FORMUN’14 event
“Meet the Diplomats!” is an exclusive FORMUN event. In Model UN, the delegates act like the diplomats at the actual United Nations, however their chances of actually interacting with actual diplomats, is slim. Thus at FORMUN’14 we decided to invite actual ambassadors and representatives of the UN so that we may benefit from their experience as diplomats and learn more about the peace-making process.
This event was hosted by Dr Yaqoob Bangash, Chairperson of the History Department at FCC. The guests for this event were His Excellency Jong Hwan Song, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Pakistan and Mr Nabeel Arif the Director of Logistics Support Division, Department of Field Support at the UN Headquarters. The event was an extremely interactive one in which the FORMUN’14 theme “Peace is Possible” was discussed.
Mr Arif and His Excellency put forward ideas to help the budding delegates to pursue their dreams, to become successful and make a difference. His Excellency pointed out that talks and dialogues are what that promote peace not artillery and weapons and for further support. Mr Arif introduced the delegates to the Youth UN program which helps to educate upcoming public speakers.
