FJS holds a panel discussion on Terror on Death Row
The Forman Journalism Society of the Mass Communication Department organized a talk on the topic ‘Terror on Death Row’ on Monday 22 February 2016. The distinguished guests for this session were Mr Ejaz Haider, Renowned Analyst and Journalist, and Ms Sarah Belal, Executive Director of Justice Project Pakistan (JPP).
Both guests shared their views on the topic and shared crucial statistics regarding the capital punishment cases in Pakistan. They discussed the flaws in regards to awarding capital punishments under the veil of terrorism to criminals whose crimes, although abominable, were actually tough to be explicitly labeled as acts of terrorism. Moratorium upon capital punishment in the country was lifted after the attack on the Army Public School (APS) in Peshawar on 16 December 2014.
There was a question-answer session after the conclusion of the talk. The audience through their queries showed active participation throughout the session. At the end of the event, Dean of Humanities, Mr Wasim Anwar, distributed souvenirs among the guests and group pictures were taken along with other members of FJS.
