EES holds Dramatic Reading Contest
The Ewing English Society held their one-of-a kind Dramatic Reading Contest on the 24 November 2016, keeping up with their motto of a ‘Renewed Ideology’.
The aura of the event was enhanced by the presence of our three renowned and distinguished chief guests, Mr Shujaat Hashmi, Mr Mujahid Eshai and Mr Arif Amin, who in their own right enlightened the audience on the importance of Literature and literati gatherings in today’s high paced era. We are also thankful to Dr Waseem Anwar for serving as a judge and Ms Rabia Wasif of English department for being there with us.
The event started off with the performances of the highly talented and enthusiastic participants, their perseverance and hard work was appreciated by the guests and audiences alike. With the performances coming to an end, the chief guests were invited on stage. Dr Arif Amin took the opportunity to recite a piece of poetry from Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s work. Mr Raza Naeem, a teacher at Beaconhouse School System, energized the audience with his brilliant performance on his translation of Manto’s work.
Later on, the society’s club directors informed the audience about their latest project: The Reader’s Guild. The Ewing English Society has provided novice writers, avid readers and movie geeks with a platform to come together to share ideas and unearth their talents. To conclude, Dr Waseem, the former Dean of Humanities was called on stage along with Mr Shujaat Hashmi and Mr Mujahid Eshai. They gave the participants resourceful critiques on their work. Mr Eshai, emphasized on the importance of translations in literature and Mr Shujaat, on the contrary held a fun,interactive session with the audience reciting a beautiful piece of poetry.
