TEDx FCC 2015: Go Boldly

TED Talks are rapidly becoming an exciting medium for sharing new and innovative ideas across the globe. In order to widen its scope, TEDx (x= independently organized event) events are arranged in various countries, including Pakistan. Forman Christian College organized its fifth TEDx event on Saturday 5 December 2015. This year’s theme was: Go Boldly

An impressive line-up of speakers shared their views on why it was important to boldly and fearlessly strive forward in every field whether it was social entrepreneurship or creating political cartoons.

Among the speakers were:

  1. Zar Aslam: Founder of the Pink Rickshaw Initiative as well as the CEO and Founder of the Environment Protection Fund (TEPF).
  2. Saad Idrees: A technologist social entrepreneur, he serves as the Co-Director at the Social Innovation Lab (SIL).
  3. Yahya Ehsan: The Co-founder and Creative Director of CFx Comics and Creative Frontiers.
  4. Sabir Nazar: A painter and political cartoonist, Mr. Nazar submits daily editorial cartoons for the Express Tribune. He also works for Newsweek Pakistan, Pakistan Today, and Herald.
  5. Syed Zia Hussain Shah: The Co-Founder and CEO of Ravvish, a social enterprise that aims at peace building and conflict resolution through the promotion of empathy and tolerance.

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Two TED videos were also shared with the audience, both of which explored the importance of preservation and innovation and how the biggest part of living is in doing. Two musical performances from YeongSeon Noh and the Ze Boys were also part of the program as was a 4 minute networking break where attendees, speakers, and volunteers got to connect on a more personal level. TEDxFCCollege 2015 concluded on a note of good cheer by the audience, speakers, and volunteers, after final remarks by the curator.
