SBS holds Sci-CreaTVT

On 21 November 2014, S-Octa was brimming with festivity and excitement as science students expressed their love for the arts. Organized by the Senior Biology Society (SBS), Sci-CreaTVT was a full day extravaganza where ingenuity met expertise. Students from the Department of Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Physics and Computer Sciences participated in this event. More than 50 students contested with around 40 pieces of art that were themed around science. The students displayed their artistic streak with their sketches and paintings on the topics that ranged from cellular organization to environmental issues, from great scientists of the past to the future of science. Some faculty members also delved into their artistic side and painted alongside students.

Dr Saba Butt from the Department of Biological Sciences, Ms Shazma Azeem from the Department of Chemistry and Dr Sarah Yasir from Department of Physics judged the artwork of students based on the novelty of their ideas and the understanding of basic science. Voting was conducted to determine a public choice award winner. Rabia Anjum won the 1st prize. The 2nd prize went to Bushra Abbas and Sidra Tul Muntaha while the 3rd prize was won jointly by Mehak Kanwal, Sidra Shafiq Butt and Esha Tu Raazia. The winner of the public choice award was Shoaib Pervaiz.

With events like Sci-Biz and Cultural Fiesta at IC-ETLS ’14 under its belt, Senior Biology Society once again managed to wow the students and faculty alike with its determination, resourcefulness and creativity.
