SBS holds farewell for outgoing Seniors

On 7 May 2014, The Department of Biological Sciences and the Senior Biology Society (SBS) arranged a farewell party for their graduating class of 2014. This event was attended by the graduating class, their juniors, and the faculty of Department of Biological Sciences. Dr Rehan Siddiqui (Professor Emeritus), Dr Kauser Abdulla Malik (Dean of Graduate Studies), Dr Mian Wajahat Hussain (Chairperson Department of Biological Sciences) and Dr Muhammad Irfan (Advisor SBS) were present at the occasion.

The event started off with a special countdown video made by the Juniors. After that, attendees were given a multi-lingual welcome. Six students in six different languages gave a warm welcome to the attendees which was appreciated by the students and faculty alike. Kamran Tariq and Fatima Khan were the hosts for the night.

Post recitation of verses from Holy Quran and Holy Bible by Mahnoor and Azikah respectively, Rabia Anjum gave a welcome speech. After that, a hilarious video of the seniors giving out their testimonials; that was dubbed in Punjabi by their juniors was shown which completely stole the show. A game of Musical Box was played where seniors were asked to share their most-embarrassing moments in FCC. To the amusement of the students and faculty, Asadullah Ghalib impersonated Dr. Imran and delivered a comical lecture on the importance of Biosafety.

Taking forward the entertaining nature of the event, Kamran Rasool and Agha Zaigham “bestowed” seniors with some apt titles. Then Sanila Shamsi (former SBS President) presented her SBS team with certificates, acknowledging their contribution. Muhammad Hassan (Current SBS President) thanked the faculty and also his newly inducted team for their unwavering support in making the event a success.

On behalf of graduating class, Hijab Javed recounted fond memories of her days in FCC. Afterwards, Saman extended her heartiest wishes to the seniors on behalf of the Juniors. Dr. Rehan, Dr. Kauser and Dr. Wajahat in their speeches, bid farewell to the graduating class and stressed upon them the importance of carrying forward the core values that they have learnt as Formanites. After dinner, the graduating class was treated with an engaging musical evening, with special performances by Hamza Butt, Zarina Baig and Mehboob Masih.  Finally the night came to an end with both Seniors and Juniors dancing to popular tunes being played by the DJ.
