Rotaract Club participates in Polio Drive
The Rotaract Club of Sharqi Lahore initiated the Polio Drive on 24 October, 2012 which is the ‘World Polio Day’ with great enthusiasm. The FCC RAC was also a part of this drive. 24 October has been chosen to commemorate the month in which Jonas Salk was born. Jonas Salk was the leader of the team that invented the first polio vaccine in 1955.
The Polio drive started fromJail Road, before going toCanal Roadthen toDoctorsHospitaland ended at Elahi Building of FCC.
RAC president Rtr. Asadullah Hunai, RAC General Secretary Rtr. Obaid Hassan, Rtr. NaveedSattar and Intermediate Rotaract representative of RAC were the part of this drive. During this drive Rotaractors chanted “End Polio Now” slogans and held banners and leaflets during this drive to make people aware and exercise World Polio Day.
Rotaractors also recorded messages to eradicate this disease. A seminar was conducted about the awareness of this crippling disease which took place at the Lahore Chambers of Commerce and Industry. DG Rtr Anthony Richards, Assistant DG from USA District, our parent club Rotary Club of midtown, Rtr Ruhaina Qureshi, representatives of World Health Organization (WHO) and members of Lahore Chambers of Commerce and Industry attended this seminar.
Rtr. Asadullah Hunain and Rtr. Obaid Hassan also attended this seminar and showed their concern towards this issue. The day ended on a very good note with a live performance by the Pakistani duo “Noori” (Ali Hamza and Ali Noor).
