RCYG visits LUMS emergency medical services

Humza Bin Maqsood, Chief-Coordinator Emergency Medical Services and Varda Zafar, Coordinator EMS visited LUMS on 9 November 2013 in order to discuss their emergency medical services. They met the following members of LUMS EMS council: Ayesha Shahid (President), M Ovais Siddiqui (Vice President), Aala Farooq (Head Of Operations), Sadia Anwar (Deputy Head Of Marketing), Norin Yasin (Head Of Trainings), Taimoor Shafiq (Deputy Head Of Operations) and Haris Bilal Khan (Head Of Administration).

The EMS (Emergency Medical Services) at LUMS is supported by Rescue 1122 and is organized and managed by LUMS student volunteers who are trained and certified in providing first aid and CPR to serve as first responders to any medical emergency on campus.

The day commenced with viewing a training session of LUMS emergency medical services followed by a discussion with the Head of Department. The student-run LUMS Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has turned into an example of commitment and student responsibility. The two EMS organizations exchanged ideas and learned from the other. A video compilation of their services and achievements was also screened. This was followed by a discussion between council members regarding various issues and projects, such as CADRE/firefighting, blood donation service and more.

The LUMS EMS members were extended an invitation to view the services provided at FCC. FCC EMS and LUMS EMS hope to further work together for the promotion and establishment of emergency medical services.
