LES holds lecture on Tax Day
Malfunctions in tax collection leading to fiscal deficit have always been a problem for developing nations, Pakistan being a prominent example. These thoughts were expressed by financial experts Dr Ikram ul Haq (International tax lawyer) and Engr Sohail Lashari (President LCCI) at the lecture held by LES on 16 April 2014.
In order to avoid the bitter circumstances we need to take important decisions in financial matters and amend our financial system.
The concerns expressed by the guests was the exclusion of big guns from the tax net, businessmen taking unfair advantage of loopholes present in financial system, and parliamentarians setting up a wrong precedent by not paying due share of taxes among others.
The purpose of the lecture was to provide students from the Economics Department information about Pakistani financial system.
