Islamic Society & RCYG organize seminar on Peace and Inter-Faith Harmony
FCC has been recognized as a practical example of a multi-religious and multi-ethnic institution.
Reflecting the true spirit of a diverse FCC community, the Islamic Society and Red Crescent Youth Group (RCYG), in collaboration with Capital Consulting and the Sunrise Green Pak Welfare Organization arranged a Seminar on Peace and Inter-Faith Harmony Wednesday 18 September 2013.
The guest speakers were Dr Munawar Chand, a Hindu scholar, Pastor Aziz Khursheed, a Christian scholar, Sher Ali Noori, an Islamic scholar, and Taranjeet Singh, a Sikh scholar.
During the interfaith dialogue, the guest speakers said that interfaith dialogue creates optimistic, supportive and beneficial communication between people with different religious thoughts, believes and practices. They added that while beliefs and practices maybe religion-specific, humanitarian principles are universal and uniform for all and that we, as humans, should adopt tolerance; tolerance would inspire acceptance and both of them together form the basis of peaceful co-existence.
Among the faculty, Mr HA Ghani of Religious Studies Department and Dr Farhat Aziz, Advisor of Formanites Islamic Society, not only joined the event but also worked with the students in putting it all up.
The management, organizers and everyone in the hall left with the promise to keep collaborating for putting up such events for the promotion of unity and integrity under the umbrella of “Interfaith Dialogues”.
