FPSS invites Asma Jahangir to talk about Judicial Activism

The Forman Political Science Society arranged a lecture on Judicial Activism by renowned legal expert Asma Jahangir.

A senior lawyer of the Supreme court of Pakistan, Asma Jahangir has served as the Chairman of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and as the President of the Supreme Court Bar council. She was a staunch supporter of the lawyers movement which was for the restoration of the deposed judges. She clearly explained judicial activism and criticized the role played by the current judiciary.

According to her, the judiciary is going beyond its circle and is interfering in the affairs of the executive and the legislative. These steps will weaken the  civil institutions and will jeopardize the nascent democratic process. She stressed that the current judiciary has dual standard on the issues of national and local interests.

She also appreciated the Forman Political Science Society for organizing the lecture.
