Dr Hoodbhoy talks about Dr Abdus Salam and the Search for a New Ether

The Benade Physics Society (BPS) presented an interactive talk by Dr Hoodbhoy, Zohra and ZZ Ahmed Foundation Distinguished Professor for Mathematics and Physics, on Dr Abdus Salam and the Search for a New Ether on 29 October 2013. Dr Hoodbhoy started the lecture telling about the existence of Ether which is the material that fills the region of the the universe above the terrestrial sphere according to ancient science.  He talks about Higgs Boson which is one of the Presidentmentary particles that makes our universe. Peter Higgs and Dr Abdus Salam theorized Higgs Boson in 1962 and 1967. Higgs Boson was discovered experimentally on 4 July 2012. And it is often called “God-Particle” for it gives explanation of all existing mass in our universe. Dr Hoodbhoy also shared about the life of Dr Abdus Salam who is the only Pakistani to receive the Nobel Prize in 1979 for his contribution to Physics. At the end of talk there was a questioning session in which students as well as faculty members participated.
