Dean of Students visits Lucas Economics Society’s Sustainable Agriculture Project

 

Dean of Students Ms Cheryl Burke visited the Sustainable Agriculture Project on 9th August, 2012. Initiated by the Lucas Economics Society, the purpose of the project is to grow vegetables on campus and distribute them among FCC’s needy employees. The vegetables being grown as a part of the project include eggplants, lady fingers, bottle gourds, bitter gourds, ridge gourds. Mint and lemon are the recent additions to the project. The Society plans to plant radishes and spinach in the future. The Society distributed its first batch of eggplants in the first week of August.

Members of the Lucas Economics Society briefed Ms Cheryl Burke about the progress of the project. Dean of Students Ms Cheryl Burke gave encouraging remarks and appreciated the efforts of the Society. She also planted a lemon tree. The Society also gifted a lemon plant to Ms Burke as a symbol of gratitude.
