BPS holds talk on Medical Physics and its Applications
The Benade Physics Society arranged a lecture on 8 October 2013 on Medical Physics and its Applications by Mr Kashif Islam, a senior scientist at the Gujranwala Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy (GINUM) – Cancer Hospital of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission.
Medical Physics is a multidisciplinary field which applies the principles of physics to bio medical problems. This lecture was about how medical physics helps to diagnose and treat cancer using radiation therapy. Mr Islam shared some of the latest and seminal research and development that is being carried out in this field. The lecture was well attended by students and faculty. Students also learned about career opportunities as medical physicists in Pakistan and internationally.
