DGS organizes TechNat’18

Dean Geographical Society organized a mega event in the context of Technology fusing Nature (TechNat’18) on Thursday 03 May 2018 in Business and Social Sciences Building. The main purpose of this event was to provide an opportunity to connect industries with educational institutions and hands on trainings over digital equipments being used in geospatial industry. Various leading governmental and non-governmental organizations, The Urban Unit, KBS Enterprise, Bit-Bricks Private Limited, JERS Engineering Consultants, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), and Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PDMC) participated and shared their projects related to Eco-Urban Planning, Engineering Works, Disaster Risk Management, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) for Nature. Different GIS maps were displayed by the organizations to the students which were very informative.  Students learned the application of Geospatial Technologies in diverse fields of our country.

The event was concluded with words of thanks and a souvenir distribution ceremony by Mr Kashif Shafique, Chairman Department of Geography to the members of organizations which include, Mr Athar Siraj from JERS, Mr Ahmed Jaza from The Urban Unit, Mr Amir Hussain from KBS, Mr Hasanat Ahmed from PMDC, Mr Abdul Jabbar from Bit-Bricks and Mr Rana Muhammad Sohail Aslam from PDMA.
