BPS participates in GIKI AirEx’13
The Benade Physics Society led a group of 16 students representing Forman Christian College, to participate in GIKI AirEx’13. This competition is organized by American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) – GIKI Chapter and is considered among the biggest scientific competitions in the country.
A large number of universities and colleges throughout the country participated in this event. The event was held from 22 to 24 November 2013. The competition consisted of a number of modules which evaluate the scientific, engineering and critical thinking skills of the participants. FCC students participated in HYDROKINETICA. This module required the participants to make aerodynamic rocket models using plastic bottles. The rocket models were then launched and tested on the basis of their horizontal range, time of flight and symmetry in the design. It was a very good learning experience for all the students as it required them to practically implement the theory, and also to have good team work skills. The registration and processing for this event were overlooked by Areab Shuaib (General Secretary – BPS). He also received the Best Ambassador Award for this event by the AIAA – GIKI Chapter management.
